He is survived by: his wife Teresa Cox Gilbert; his children, Candice Cox, William Gilbert, Earnest Gilbert and Grace Gilbert; his grandchildren, Savannah Alewine, Benjamin Flemming, Linslee Gilbert, Jacob Gilbert, Leland Gilbert, Abigail Gilbert, Alanna Gilbert and Axel Gilbert; his great grandchild Jonah; and his siblings, Loraine Hamby, Brenda Faulk and Nick Gilbert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
