He was predeceased by: his parents, Durwood Dewitt Kinard and Trudie English Kinard; his son Shane McCord; and his sisters, Myrtice Simmons, Thelma Griffin, Ida Jo Bishop, Gloria Jarrell and Grace Alexander.

He is survived by: his wife Letha Wilson Kinard; his children, Sherry Kinard, Sandra Barnes, Pam Sherrell and Ken Turner; and his siblings, Faye Heywood and Billy Kinard. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren.
