He was predeceased by: his parents, John Carethers and Evelyn Carethers (Reid); his siblings, John Carethers (Bernice), Ella Stinson (Jesse) and Margaret Dykes (John); his children, Arthur Jerome Carethers and Tina Carethers; and his grandson David Carethers.
He is survived by: his spouse Gabrella; his children, Wilma Gilchrest, Shirley Carethers, Deborah Carethers and William Michael Carethers (Donna); and his granddaughter Danielle Carethers. He is also survived by 19 other grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
