He is survived by: his children, Laura Akins, James Michael Akins (Jenny) and Sharon Akins; his grandchildren, James Tyler Akins (Margaret) and Madison Gannon (Sean); his great grandchild Willian Gannon; his siblings, Thomas Elton Akins and Virginia Akins; and his nieces, Lisa Young and Tami Coan.
