He was predeceased by: his parents, Monroe Chastain and Mollie Mae Chastain; his sister Doris Pierce; and his brothers-in-law, James Fowler and Tony Parker.

He is survived by: his siblings, Stephen (Linda Chastain), Daniel (Tammy Chastain), Elaine Fowler, Willine (Butch Young) and Patsy Parker; and his niece Morgan Young. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews.
