He was predeceased by: his parents, John Hughes and Annie "Crider" Hughes; and his siblings, Lowell Hughes, James Hughes, Homer Lee Hughes, Nelson Hughes, Joe Hughes, Carl Hughes, Lena Bell Hughes, Lethia Singleton, Evelyn Elrod, Johnnie Brindle, Margaret Partion, Marilynn Hughes and Sherlynn Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Hughes of Fairmount; his children, Shane Hughes of Utah, Jason (Christy Hughes), Justin Hughes of Austell, GA, Matthew Hughes of Ohio, Jerry (Marsha Jenkins), Ranee Hughes of Resaca, Irene Neisler of Cummings and Pauline Jenkins of Calhoun; and his siblings, Jacob Hughes, Edward Hughes and Geneva Walker of Dalton. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and several other nieces and nephews.
