He was predeceased by: his son Tony Thompson; and his granddaughter Nikki Erb. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Seleskey Thompson; his children, Russell Thompson (Rusty) and Carla; his son-in-law John Sculac; his daughter Jennifer; his son-in-law Eric Tidwell; and his grandchildren, Michael Thompson (Cheryl), Russell Thompson (Nichole), Sherry Slay (Lance), Joanna Elliott and Raegan Tidwell.
