He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Harding Newby and Doris Coghill Matthews; his stepmother Sally Newby; and his brothers, Raymond Marvin Newby and Larry Thomas Newby.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Reese Newby; his son William Charles Newby, Jr. (Christine); his grandchildren, Kristen McDowell (Bobby), Elizabeth Newby Haupt (Bryce) and William Charles Newby III; and his sisters, June Carol Newby Mostoway, Ginger Newby Morris (Stevie) and Lisa Newby Carver (Brad). He is also survived by relatives include several nieces, nephews.
