With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Karen Phillips of Epworth, Georgia, born in Shelbyville, Indiana, who passed away on March 12, 2021 at the age of 72. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Karen Phillips to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Vance Shelton and Emma Grimes Shelton; and her sister Pam Shelton. She is survived by: her children, Johnnie Phillips, Jr., Gordon Van Phillips (Julia) and Jennifer Abernathy; her close friend Johnnie Phillips, Sr.; her grandchildren, Marcus Brown, Cassandra Jessin, Selina Brown, Jessica Abernathy and Will Abernathy; her great grandchildren, Ashlyn Jessin, Aurora Jessin and Parker Brown; and her brothers, Reverend Fred Shelton and Gary Shelton. She is also survived by nieces; nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
