He was predeceased by: his mother Margaret Schmandt; and his siblings-in-law, Marc McKenzie and Michele Schmandt. He is survived by: his father John Paul Schmandt, Jr.; his son Justin Dakota Schmandt of Enigma; and his siblings, John Paul III (Cheryl Schmandt), Paul Robert Schmandt of Milan, Michigan, Jacqueline (Dave Dettling), Margaret (Randy Egbert) and Sandra (George Bellman). He is also survived by eleven nieces and nephews.
