We are sad to announce that on June 23, 2022, at the age of 90, Billy Stokes of Emerson, Georgia, born in Bridgeport, Alabama passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his former wife Kathryn Walker Stokes; his wife Vallie King Stokes, 3rd (Alma Brown Stokes); his children, Dwight Billy Stokes, Kathy Jo Stokes Kareken and Dwayne Lemon Stokes; and his siblings, Tom Stokes, Sherman Stokes, Frank Stokes, Newton Stokes, Lorene "Dee Blevins, Ida Kate Powell, Ruby Brooks, Marie "Pat" Glover, Linda Irene "Kitty" Nunley and Annie Bell Stokes.
He is survived by: his daughter Melissa Stokes Ferguson of Emerson; his children-in-law, Shirley Bryant Stokes of Emerson, Denise Padgett Stokes of Emerson and Jim Kareken of Acworth; and his close friends, David Dotson, Gary Rainey, J. B. Evans and Place. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
