She was predeceased by: her parents, Amplus D. Howard and Mattie King Howard; her husband Thomas Nelson Mathis, Sr.; and her siblings, Matilee Johnson and A. D. Howard, Jr..
She is survived by: her sons, Tom Mathis, Jr. (Casey) of Naples, FL, Howard B. Mathis of Ellijay and Russell W. Mathis (Cathy) of Ball Ground; her sisters, Jane Faucett of Huntsville, AL and Virginia Sappington of Marietta; her grandchildren, Katherine Vantosh (Aaron), Bryan Mathis (Isamar) and Megan Bell (Rodney); and her great grandchildren, Thomas Mathis and Millie Mathis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice @ 70 Caring Way, Jasper, GA 30143 in memory of Mrs. Mary Mathis.
