We are sad to announce that on June 18, 2024 we had to say goodbye to Mary Howard Mathis of Ellijay, Georgia, born in Aiken, South Carolina. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Amplus D. Howard and Mattie King Howard; her husband Thomas Nelson Mathis, Sr.; and her siblings, Matilee Johnson and A. D. Howard, Jr..

She is survived by : her sons, Tom Mathis, Jr. (Casey) of Naples, FL, Howard B. Mathis of Ellijay and Russell W. Mathis (Cathy) of Ball Ground; her sisters, Jane Faucett of Huntsville, AL and Virginia Sappington of Marietta; her grandchildren, Katherine Vantosh (Aaron), Bryan Mathis (Isamar) and Megan Bell (Rodney); and her great grandchildren, Thomas Mathis and Millie Mathis.

Visitation was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (115 Pleasant Grove Rd, Ellijay, GA 30540). A funeral service was held on Friday, June 21st 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Georgia Mountains Hospice @ 70 Caring Way, Jasper, GA 30143 in memory of Mrs. Mary Mathis.
