She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Dewey Monroe and Rosa Barwick Monroe; her husband William "Bill" H. Mitchell, Jr.; and her siblings, Pauline Boxxe, Dewey Lamar Monroe, Franklin Eugene Monroe and Marilyn Marie Monroe.
She is survived by: her children, Donald "Don" Redding, Sheila Shearouse and Rhonda Stapleton; and her brothers, Billy Monroe and Ray Monroe. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
