He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos D. Smith and Elizabeth Smith (Thigpen); and his siblings, C. B. Smith and Lottie Lariscy. He is survived by: his wife Gloria; his son Carlos; his grandson Connor; and his daughter Rachel Levan (Joe). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
