He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine Denise "Cathi" Smith McGarity; and his parents, Thomas Glenn McGarity, Jr. and Lavinia Harper McGarity. He is survived by: his daughter Lauren Catherine McGarity of Elberton; his sisters, Laura Sanders of Batesville, MS and Susan Farrish of Clemson, SC; his mother-in-law Sybil Ruff Smith of Elberton; and his close friend David Giannoni of Elberton.
