She was predeceased by: her siblings, Dora Nell Smith and Thomas Mitchell; her nephew Carey Mitchell; and her siblings-in-law, Patsy Mitchell, Carolyn Mitchell, Billy Murphy and Tommy Smith.
She is survived by: her husband Michael R. "Mike" Staples; her daughters, Melissa S. Mattox (Henry) of Elberton and Kimberly S. Danner (Michael) of Watkinsville; her siblings, Ted Mitchell of Martin, Margaret Murphy of Martin, David Mitchell (Joy) of Martin, Jerry Mitchell (Montine) of Martin and Mary Holloway (Tommy) of Toccoa; and her grandchildren, Michaela Mattox, Corbin Mattox, Sean Neill and Samantha Danner.
