It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marvin Bessinger of Elberton, Georgia, born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, who passed away on January 9, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Verna Lee and John Bessinger; his spouse Aiko Watanabe; and his siblings, Sydney Bessinger (Buck), Mary Frances Durham and Furman Bessinger.
He is survived by: his children, Alvin Bessinger (Paula), David Bessinger (Debbie) and Paula Dickinson (John); his granddaughters, Melissa Haley (Nate), Chelsea Bessinger (Wesley), Drew Cody (Ben) and Dara Morrell (Michael); his great grandchildren, Scarlett, Lucas and Mason; his sister Betty Sue Rucker of Ozark, MO; and his daughter-in-law Colleen Hanson Bessinger. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and very special friends.
Due to Covid, the immediate family has decided not to have a service at this time, however the friends may come Thursday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm to pay their respects to Marvin.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made in Marvin's memory to your local food bank or favorite charity.
