He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Hubert Clyde Thompson and Maxine Smith Thompson; his siblings, Clyde Thompson and Joan Almond; his son-in-law J. Scott Smith; his daughter Angela (Jonathan Rice) of Elberton; his wife Jacquelyn Beryl "Jackie" Dickerson Thompson; his daughters, Melanie Thompson of Elberton and Lori Thompson of Elberton; and his grandchildren, Scottie and Jana Schultz. He was also cherished by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
