He was predeceased by: his parents, John Shannon Owen, Sr. and Iva Drucilla McGee Owen; his son-in-law Eugene Hagood; and his siblings, Ima Nell Hufstetler, Geneva Blum and George Owen.
He is survived by: his wife Lula Belle; and his children, Sammy Joe Owen of Elberton, Wanda Hagood, Billy Mitchell of Elberton, John S. Owen, III and Renee' of Washington. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
