He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Brown (Buster) and Annie Laura Brown (Heard); his wife Linda Susan Burton (Burton); his daughter Michelle Burton; his siblings, Inell Brown, Mamie Lue Allen, Cora Lee Cureton, Estelle Calhoun, Lula Jane Teasley, Charles Brown, Otis Heard, Edward Brown (Rochelle) and Albert Brown, Jr.; and his brothers-in-law, Billy Fortson, Ricky Teasley and James Henry Burton.
He is survived by: his sons, James Brown, Jr. (Leslie) and Krege Burton; his grandchildren, Mia, Lena, Dylan, Andrew and Kenzlee; his siblings, Christine Fortson, Alice Teasley, Sonja Simpson, Beatrice Brown and Jimmy Brown; his uncle Joe Louis Allen; and his siblings-in-law, Josephine Brown, Margaret Brown, Dorothy Hood (Joe), Winnie Mae Burton, Robert Burton, Jr., Frank Burton (Janie) and Cad Gene Burton. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
