He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Gordon Childers, Sr. and Helen Elizabeth Romines Hartsock; and his siblings, Sue Archer, Jim Childers, Dwight Childers and Sonny Hartsock.

He is survived by: his children, Tanya (Chris Calhoun), Tamera (Greg Frank), Teia (Nathan Gatlin), Kimberly (Travis Beverly) and Dean Childers of Waycross, GA; his brothers, Tom (Judy Childers) and Eddie (Darlene Childers); and his caregiver Carol Messer. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren.
