She was predeceased by: her son Danny Wendell; her husband Buck; her parents, John William Carswell Gaines, Sr. and Tallie Elvira Lee Gaines; and her siblings, Mamie Shumate, Rosa Partain, Fannie Teasley, Eula Herring, Pauline Skelton, Carswell Gaines, Jr., Albert "Mutt" Gaines, Jackie Stratton and Joe Gaines.
She is survived by: her children, Larry Michael (Nancy Bessinger) of Elberton, Joy Denise (Greg Mack) of Barnesville and Brian Sidney (Carol Bessinger) of Elberton; her daughter-in-law Anne Bessinger of Elberton; and her grandchildren, Jeannie (Leon Jourolmon), Jill (Larry Kesler), Kerri Bessinger (Devin Fischer), Stefanie Bessinger, Lance (Karen Mack), Corrie (Brett Padgett), Tyler (Emily Bessinger), Sydney (Taylor Wingate) and Suzannah (Jay Clarke). She is also survived by twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
