He was predeceased by: his parents, George Alton Mercer and Ruth Aderhold Mercer; and his brother George Robert Mercer. He is survived by: his wife Ann Wansley Mercer; his children, Catherine Warren (Dave) of Richmond Hill, Jacquelyn Fogle (Sammy) of Cameron, SC and Alton Mercer of Madison; his grandchildren, Adrienne Blum (Brice), Audra Esquivel (Joaquin), Rachel Fogle, Erica Fogle, Sarah Ellen Mercer and Gaines Mercer; and his brothers, Gerald Mercer (Peggy) and Jimmy Mercer (Mary) of Elberton.
