He was predeceased by: his parents, Otis Johnson and Gracie Glaze Johnson; his wife Willie Mae Fortson Johnson; and his sons, Lucious Dye, Amos Oneal Johnson and Steven Johnson.
He is survived by: his children, Ricky Dye (Diane) of Elberton, Ann Mattox (Stacy) of Elberton, Tony Johnson of Elberton and David Johnson of Elberton; his siblings, Willie Fred Johnson (Alice), Walter Banks, Lem Junior Ardister (Elizabeth) and Ora Bell Hamm (Robert); and his sisters-in-law, Mary J. Johnson, Lula Johnson, Zue Ardister, Barbara Banks and Ruby H. Johnson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
