He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Marion Smith and Bessie Davis Smith. He is survived by: his wife Betty Smith; his children, Lonnie Smith, Jr. (Shannon) and Tina Havard (Joe); and his grandchildren, Lonnie "Lee" Smith, III, Misty Havard, Anna Cheves, Kathleen Taylor and Grayson Smith. He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren.
