He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John W. Abbott and Zoa Goolsby Hamilton; his stepfather Spence Hamilton; his brother Steve Hamilton; his sister-in-law Kim Brown; his wife Regina Abbott; his children, Marisa Abbott and Jon Abbott; his grandchildren, Kole, Zoa, Maris, Dominic and Brantley; his sister Barbara Glore; his parents-in-law, Charlotte and Mark Rowland; his brothers-in-law, Paul Padgett and George Padgett; and also Will Doss. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.
