He was predeceased by: his parents, David Hugh Thomas and Melba Opal Akins Thomas; his brother Judge William Akins Thomas; and his brother-in-law Dr. Robert F. Munzenrider. He is survived by: his wife Carole Spivey Thomas; his children, David Hugh Thomas, III (Pam) of San Antonio, Judge Christyne Thomas Holmes (John) of Eatonton, Caroline Thomas Davis (Joey) of Eatonton and Solicitor Russell Spivey Thomas (Pam) of Eatonton, Georgia; his grandchildren, Joel Hampton Davis, Thomas Patrick Davis, Spivey Katherine Davis, John Kendrick Holmes, Lillian Christyne Thomas, Carolyn Kendrick Thomas and Robert Richmond Thomas; his sisters, Martha Gillian Thomas Tilghman (Doug) of Snellville and Sarah Frances Thomas Munzenrider of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania; his sister-in-law Jean Kickliter Thomas of Augusta, Georgia; and his nephews, Dr. William A. Thomas, Dr. Andrew F. Thomas, Zachary T. Munzenrider and Joseph T. Munzenrider. He is also survived by many cousins and extended family.
