She was predeceased by: her parents, Gaynor Ferrell and Idoma Ferrell; her husband Marvin Powell, Jr; her daughters, Marsha Powell Hobbs and Carol Powell Brewer; and her siblings, Ernest Wilkerson, Bobby T. Ferrell, Earl Ferrell, Edison Ferrell and Fannie Lou Whisnant.

She is survived by: her daughter Brenda Powell Manley of Dublin; her sister Virginia Ferrell Frost of Wrightsville; and her grandsons, Curt Poole, Chris Channell Sr, Casey Loftin, Kip Poole, Stacey Loftin, Shannon Claxton and Matt Hobbs. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
