James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Preston Furr, Sr. and Cora Carpenter Furr; his former wife Geraldine H. Furr; and his siblings, Willie Furr, Lloyd Furr and Jerry Furr.

He is survived by: his wife Delores L. Furr; his children, Karen Stephens, James Preston Furr, III, Timothy Furr, Thomas Furr, Tamala Teal and Julieanne Pierce; his stepchildren, Angela Bedard, Lisa Cate, Edward LaHaie, David LaHaie and Aime Moon; and his siblings, Edna Ziegler, Herb Furr, Dick Furr and Fred Furr. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, and 4 step great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the West Cobb Funeral Home & Crematory (2480 Macland Rd, Marietta, GA 30064). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114).
