He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Bob" Martin and Nell Twilley Martin; his wife Patsy Elizabeth Martin; and his brothers, Danny Martin, Richard Martin and Mike Martin.

He is survived by: his sons, Raymond "Ray" James Martin of Douglasville, Georgia, Bobby Thomas Martin (Tonya) of Temple and Brian Paul Martin of Douglasville, Georgia; his grandchildren, Alexandria Elizabeth Pennington, Abigail Nehemiah Martin, Amillia Lynn Martin and Brooklyn Nicole Martin; and his great grandchildren, Brodie Martin Pennington, Ember Rae Morine and Carter Scott Morine.
