He was predeceased by: his parents, May Bell Sapp Newell and Robert Newell; his brothers, Donald Newell, Roger Newell, Larry Newell and James Monroe Newell; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Knight, Raymond "Butch" Yarbrough and Lynn Yarbrough Worth.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Ann Yarbrough Newell of Douglas, GA; his son Gerald Keith Newell of Douglas, GA.; his pet Maggie; his siblings, Katherine Green (Bob) of Douglas, GA, Janice Knight of Douglas, GA, Patricia Canady (Hal) of Collins, GA and Edward Newell (Rhonda) of Pearson, GA; and his siblings-in-law, Buddy Worth of Douglas, GA, Hazel Newell of Ambrose, GA and Pam Yarbrough of Albany, GA. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
