He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas W. Thurman and Lilla Traynam Thurman; and his siblings, Louise Spell, Allie Pridgen, Elbert "Buster" Thurman, Terrell Thurman, George Thurman and Francis Edward.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Blount Thurman of Pridgen, Georgia; his children, Pat Williams (Jack), Johnny Thurman (Patricia) of Douglas, Marie Davis (E. F.) of Pridgen and Lisa Beadleston (Dave) of Longmont, Colorado; his sister Rita Vickers of Ambrose, Georgia; and his grandchildren, Shannon Thurman, Randy Rathburn (Amy), Jennifer Davis, Meagan Williams (Brad), Rand Merchant (Traci), Carissa Merchant and George Thurman (Caitlin). He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Ricketson Funeral Home Chapel (305 W Ward St, Douglas, GA 31533). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Saturday, January 25th 2025 at the Pridgen Cemetery (5570 US-441, Broxton, GA 31519).
