He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Jackson Tanner and Frances McDonald Tanner; his daughter Elizabeth Cleary Tanner; and his sister Jerry Tanner Walker. He is survived by: his wife Cleary Tanner; his children, Drew Tanner (Regan) of Douglas, Georgia, Hamp Tanner (Michelle) of Miami Shores, Florida and Tiffany Walton (Rob) of Atlanta, Georgia.; his grandchildren, Andrew (Tiffany), Michael (Mikki), Hollis, Collier, Adalyn, Annie, Hampton, Lucianna, Julian John, Frances and Charlie; and his great grandchildren, Blake Marie, Addie Jane and Evelyn Elise.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Sims Funeral Home (201 N Peterson Ave, Douglas, GA 31533). A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St Andrews Anglican Church (523 E Ward St, Douglas, GA 31533). A burial will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at the Douglas City Cemetery (1636 N Gaskin Ave, Douglas, GA 31533).
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Andrews Anglican Church in Douglas, GA , honoring John's memory and his enduring spirit of community and faith.
