She is survived by: her father Aunt Hazel; her stepmother Mary O'Neal Butler; her spouse Van Ex O'Neal, Jr.; her sons, Van, James O'Neal (Julie) of Flagler Beach, Richard O'Neal (Kathy) of Punta Gorda, Michael David O'Neal (Ryoko Kawabe) of Ayase and Japan; and her grandchildren, Kelly O'Neal, Summer O'Neal Cranford, Rick O'Neal, Iris O'Neal Farrand (Morgan), Jessica O'Neal Hall (Andy), Rachel O'Neal and April O'Neal.
Prior to a 10-year long journey with Alzheimer's, Ellen was often found casting a net from her dock in Lynn Haven, Florida, working on crocheting and sewing, tending to her cattleyas and flourishing garden, picking grapefruits from her trees, feeding cats, or cooking in her kitchen for her family.
