He is survived by: his wife Loretta "Dina" Penland of Dixie Union; his children, David N. Penland (Denise) of Dixie Union and Debra Woodard (Davy) of Waycross; his grandson Greg Penland (Sarah) of Dixie Union; his great grandchildren, Lana Penland and Lindy Penland; his stepgranddaughters, Heather Nipper (Brian) of Waycross and Michelle McLaughlin of Waycross; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Tyler Nipper, Tanner Nipper, Emily Hutto and Abiegail McLaughlin; his siblings, Martha Parris (Bob) of Laurens, SC, Kate Crawford (George) of Franklin, NC and Pete Penland (Sarah) of Franklin, NC; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Penland of Franklin, NC and Frankie Penland of Rockwall, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
