He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Louise Fouts Maxwell; his parents, Hoyt Chandler Maxwell, Sr. and Ada Lou Fleming Maxwell; and his siblings, Benjamin Maxwell, Hannah "Betty" Vines, Henry Maxwell, Pat Maxwell, Rachel Jones, Tom "Gene" Maxwell, Bill Maxwell, Louis Maxwell and Tense Justice.
He is survived by: his children, Brenda Joyce Cann (Ray), Charlotte Maxwell Truitt (Charles) and Steven Maxwell (Carol); his grandchildren, Stephanie Renea Cann, Jeffery Chandler Cann, Cory Adam Truitt (Jen Galeas) and Craig Ryan Truitt (Laurie Jossey Truitt); his great grandchildren, Max Truitt, James Truitt and Chandler Truitt; and his siblings, Winona Ginn of Bowman and Stuart Maxwell of Hull. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
