She was predeceased by: her husband John H. Whitaker; her parents, John Newsome and Nannie Lou Newsome; her son Lester "Lee" Walden, Jr.; her granddaughter Jaci Cooper; her sisters, Helen McCowan, Corrine Hobbs, Avice Hinton and JoAnn Barrow; her daughter-in-law Ceil Walden; and her brother John E. Newsome, Jr. (Ceil) of Titusville, FL.
She is survived by: her children, Kim Sims (Mike), Brenda Axon, Randy Walden (Donna), Rickie Walden and J. J. Cooper. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
