He was predeceased by: his parents, James E. Hightower and Julia Hightower; and his wife Betty Jean Hightower. He is survived by: his children, James E. Hightower, Jr., Denise Lockett and Michael Hightower; his siblings, Mary Jane Hightower, Doris Mae Stafford, Annie Ruth McCoy, Henry Barnes, William Barnes, Tom Jr. Barnes and Charlie Hightower; and his grandchildren, Nekeshia Hightower, James Davis, Jamaria Hightower, Tay Hightower, Ty'Yonya Milner, Kelton Hightower and Jace Lockett (Jada Lockett). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, October 31st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the New Salem Methodist Church (2055 Betty Wise Rd, Dawson, GA 39842).
