He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh F. Chapman, Sr. and Myrtle Hattaway Chapman; his wife Jean Chapman; and his sister Dorothy Chapman Fuqua. He is survived by: his children, Freddie Chapman of Davisboro, Melanie Ford (Mike) of Richmond, VA, Tim Chapman (Amy) of Louisville, Kim Anderson of Riddleville and Susan Garrett (Scotty) of Riddleville; his grandchildren, Kimberly Bauer (Mark), Zac Ford, Carl Chapman (Melissa), Emily Chapman, Stone Chapman, Daniel Anderson (Meredith), Sydney Oliver (Will), Justin Garrett (Courtney) and Austin Garrett; his stepgrandchildren, Justin Fletcher, Jackson Fletcher and Samantha Jones; and his great grandchildren, Henlee Chapman, Tripp Chapman, River Oliver, Bailee Brooke Anderson, Rylan Oliver and Summer Bauer.
