She was predeceased by: her parents, James William Smith and Phoebe Hendrix Smith; her husband Eddie Dorsey Roberson; her son Vernon D. "Pete" Poppell, Jr.; her brother Lester Owen Smith, Sr.; her former husband Vernon D. Poppell, Sr.; and her great grandchildren, Joseph Harris Hendrix and Waylon Levi Hendrix.
She is survived by: her children, Sherry Hendrix (Joe) of Waycross, David Poppell (Connie) of Darien and Eddie Poppell of Darien; her grandchildren, Heather Darby (Charley), Jeffrey Poppell (Kristy), Melissa "Missy" Hendrix Carter (Chris), Brad Hendrix (Lindsey), Eddie Poppell, Jr. (Miranda), Jacob Poppell, Peri Poppell, Josh Poppell (Kayla) and Chelsea P. Hope (Jesse); her siblings, David Smith (Clara), Robert Smith (Jeanette), John Eldon Smith (Ann) and Mildred Smith "Millie" Wilke; and her stepchildren, Tony Roberson (Taniel), Laura Wills and Amy Roberson. She is also survived by 13 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.
