He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Patrick and Otha Pinell Carmichael; his siblings, Robert E., Phillip A. Carmichael and Patricia Carmichael Parrish; and his sons-in-law, Tommy W. Anderson and Stanley T. Pruett.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Atwater Carmichael; his children, Kay Carmichael Anderson, Kathy Carmichael Pruett, Doug Carmichael II and Kam Carmichael Bennett; and his grandchildren, Will (Hannah), Reid Anderson (Melanie), Thad, Priscilla Pruett, Matet Carmichael and Emma Kam Bennett. He is also survived by his seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making donations to the Madison County Library or Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter in Doug's memory.
