He is survived by: his wife Sandra Stone Ellis; his children, Smith Hall Ellis III, Barry Allen Ellis and Melanie Ellis Reed (Kenny); his brother Gene Hollis (Carolyn); his grandchildren, Brooke Ellis Hasty (Austin), Jacob Smith Ellis Kaleb A. (Emily), Ellis, Karlee G. Ellis, Samuel Blake Reed, Brinkley Kate Reed and Caroline Faith Reed; his great grandchildren, Brynleigh Hasty and Jack Hasty; his aunts, Betty Cochran Jones (Dee) and Frances Cochran; and his siblings-in-law, James "Buddy" Stone, Terry Wade Stone (Lisa) and Melanie Stone Peeples.
