She was predeceased by: her father Paul Higdon; her husband Deputy Durwin Lynn Potts; and her son-in-law Brandon Varnell. She is survived by: her children, Rebekah Varnell and Christian Ratcliff; her mother Bonnie Shields; her brothers, Steve Higdon (Sandy) and Allen Higdon (Melinda); and her grandchildren, Trystan, Isabella, Kate, Chase, Kaylie and Jordon. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
