She was predeceased by: her parents, Callie Meeks Shelton Slaughter and Joseph Charlie "Joe" Shelton; her husband Marion F. Smith; her grandchildren, C. J. Long and Chad McCullough; her siblings, Harlan (Kathy Shelton), Charles Edward Shelton, Larry Shelton, Betty (Saul Rittenhouse) and Catherine (Cecil Sanders); and her parents-in-law, Hulen and Frances Crider Smith, Sr..
She is survived by: her children, Shane (Dana Smith), Chris (Beth Long), Sandy (Ramsey Blackmon), Shina Long of Dalton, GA and Tina Long of Chatsworth, GA; her brother Kenneth; her sister-in-law Faye Shelton of Dalton, GA; her sisters, Mary (Homer Watson) and Betsy Shelton of Alabama; and her grandchildren, Meredith Cleghorn, Katie Beth Cleghorn, Cassi Gillespie, Buddy Gillespie, Scott McCullough, Miranda Long, Jacob Smith, Chandler Smith, Adrienne Smith, Jillian, Marcos Kerley and Bryson Smith.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Ponders Funeral Home - Dalton (138 Melrose Dr, Dalton, GA 30721).
