He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Stinson Whisenant; his parents, Sam Edward, Sr. and Cecil Sutton Whisenant; his siblings, Winfred Whisenant (Minnie), JC Whisenant of Donald, Melford Whisenant and Lucille "Lucy" Ramsey (Clay); his son-in-law Charles Edward Rollins; his sister-in-law Josefa Witt; and his uncle Conley Sutton.
He is survived by: his children, Connie Whisenant Rollins and Gene Stinson (Betty); his siblings, Virgil Whisenant (Shirley), Sam Jr. Whisenant (Glenda) and Joy Cockburn (David); his brother-in-law Bob Witt; his grandchildren, Regina Stinson Adams (Britt), Nita Toney, Tim Stinson (Aimee), Kiley Edward Rollins, Dewayne Rollins and Tim Rollins; and his great grandchildren, Lily, Abby Adams, Chase Sornson, Tiffany Richards (Mark), Michael Toney (Ashlie) and Nick Rollins. He is also survived by four great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
