He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilfred Gilbert and Alice Gilbert (Hurley); his brother Edward Gilbert; and his siblings-in-law, Ramona (Gilbert) and Daniel Marcou.
He is survived by: his wife Lise Gilbert (Marceau); his children, Gina Carter (David) of Cedar Lake, Michigan and Matthew Gilbert (Lori) of Tignall, Georgia; his siblings, Albert Gilbert (Donna) of Gorham, Joseph Gilbert of Wellington, Florida and Helen Marcou of Gorham; his grandchildren, Jill Carter (Joseph Ausmus), Olivia Carter, Emmi Carter, Malby Gilbert, Carter Gilbert, Lane Gilbert, Caleb Wilson and Coleman Wilson; and his great grandchildren, Noah Ausmus and Hazel Wilson.
