He is survived by: his wife Jane Chaffin; his children, Michael Chaffin (Laura), Amanda Roper (Brian) of Macon and Lauren Nelson of Dallas, Georgia; his brother Paul Chaffin (Joy) of Piedmont, Alabama; his grandchildren, Parker Chaffin (Sydney), Avery Chaffin, Alex Chaffin, Brooks Roper, Brady Roper (Emmie), Brett Roper and Lillian Nelson; and his great grandchild William Roper.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in John's honor to the American Cancer Society.
