He was predeceased by: his parents, Keith Symons and Bettie Symons; and his father-in-law Glenn Hand, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Debbie; his children, Michael Symons (Heather) of Ashburn, VA and Kerri Barton (Neil) of Marietta, GA; his grandchildren, Brynn, Ethan, Brooke and Isaac; his brother Jim Symons (Vickie) of Florence, SC; his mother-in-law Dorothy Hand; and his siblings-in-law, Randy, Sandy Bloom, Glenn and Christine Hand. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to International Cooperating Ministries (ICM), 1901 North Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23666 (https://www.icm.org) to build a church in an area to be determined.
