He was predeceased by: his father Dr. John Mark Carpenter. He is survived by: his mother Betty Sue Carpenter (Hawkins); his wife Marti Carpenter (Turner); his sons, Benjamin Luke Carpenter (Sarah) and John David Carpenter (Sarah Henderson); his stepdaughter Donna Ross; his grandchildren, Benaiah, Lily, Quinne, Rowan, Titus, Thea, Lucy, Tae, Ashton, Madison and Jared; his siblings, Nancy Hulsey (Tommy), Kim Abrams (Steve), Barbara Clement (Jeff) and Chris Carpenter (Janice); and his aunt Joanne Hawkins. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent for Mr. Carpenter. They wish for donations to be made in Mr. Carpenter's memory to either the VFW or the Georgia Sheriffs' Youth Homes.
