He was predeceased by: his sisters, Rosalyn Simmons and Deidre Miller; his sister-in-law Vivian Reed Hayes; and his grandparents, Foy Simmons, Carrie Sales Simmons of Cuthbert, GA, Callum C. Hayes and Hildra Cook Hayes of Calhoun, AL..
He is survived by: his parents, Fletcher W. Simmons and Beatrice Hayes Simmons of Cuthbert, GA; his brother Arnold G. Hayes of Nashville, TN; his brother-in-law Miller of Yonkers, NY; and his godfather David Simmons (Marie) of Alpine, FL. He is also survived by seven nieces, one nephew; five great-nieces, two great-nephews and one great-great nephew; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
